Born in 1980 she grew up in Devon and is now based in London working as an artist and designer from a studio-based practice.
The paintings on show are recent works, where alternative mechanisms and compositions full of melodic balance and harmony have come into play.
They are snap-shots of abstract space, fractured and full of debris, conjuring new “scapes” which are a development upon Helen’s more pure pattern-based pieces.
Exploring the ancient opposing philosophical discussion of, ‘ I know that I don’t know’, ‘ I don’t know that I know’, is one of the main ideas that Helen questions in her artwork.
Experimenting and creating the conditions or framework in order to look at this concept is explored through the paint, colour, composition and support of each piece. With the full understanding that this subject is of a huge complexity her artwork in its own small way endeavors to contribute and make comment on this vast concept and subject.
Along side her artwork practice she is also a designer, working in the luxury goods market as a consultant and artist. Clients include Cartier, Asprey, Tabitha Simmons and Hussein Chalayan.
