Past Exhibitions / Modular 1304
Following a recent exhibition at the Hospital Club, ArtMoorHouse represents an installation of video stills produced by James Alec Hardy, creating compositions made from feedback of cameras, using obsolete broadcast and editing technology from a former analogue age, which are connected together in sequence. Hardy manipulates the technology to conjure feedback and electronic interference.
These sequences are physically wrought by the artist's hand, dissecting the flow of technology in a labour intensive, considered manipulation of imagery. He extracts sequences of still images from the recorded video, to present single aesthetic narratives from the distorted flow of video. His work expresses a thorough engagement with video and technology, using performance and installation to investigate rituals, then extracting the symbols which emerge through the process.
